Boux Avenue & our support for Breast Cancer Care

Ever since our launch, the Boux Avenue team have been proudly supporting a cause that’s close to our hearts, Breast Cancer Care. We’re dedicated to spreading the word about this fantastic breast cancer support charity and we’ve been fundraising in a variety of ways; Strawberry tea parties, Miss B’s baking competitions, capsule collections, sample sales and Pink Fridays.

So I’m delighted to reveal that – with your help – Boux Avenue have raised over £16,000 for Breast Cancer Care throughout 2013!

A Letter to My Body: Jill's story

A Letter to My Body: Jill's story

Miss B and a few members of the Boux Avenue team were recently invited to an exclusive screening of Breast Cancer Care’s new campaign, A Letter To My Body, held at Tateossian’s beautiful jewellery store in London’s West End. It was a deeply moving evening, celebrating the strength and courage of women who have battled with body issues and low self esteem as a result of breast cancer. The campaign features three incredible women, Jill, Heather and Ismena, each sharing their inspirational stories with the world – and it is quite the tearjerker.

As I dabbed my eyes and mingled with the other guests, I spotted a pretty pink Tateossian bracelet displayed in a sparkling glass cabinet. It stood out, not only because of its chic Italian leather and shiny silver clasp, but also because 30% of proceeds would be donated to Breast Cancer Care. And with that in mind, I simply had to buy it there and then!

My friend Jenny inspires me as her daughter was born with a heart defect and needed urgent surgery and will also require ongoing surgery. She has health problems herself which meant she was in and out of hospital. She is also pregnant again with her third child which is causing her pain as she is suffering from SPD, however it never stops her being upbeat, she never feels sorry for herself and she always remembers other people’s problems and ails. All of this while looking after her two daughters, working and trying to look after herself!

I’ve just been inspired by the people on 24 Hours in A&E (as I am every week!). There was a woman on tonight that had throat cancer and had had her larynx removed so was unable speak. I think I would be very frustrated if it was me but she didn’t seem to be.
